Claude Lemieux's Son Reports Father's Relapse into Addiction Before Death

Brendan Lemieux, the son of former NHL player Claude Lemieux, informed police that his father had relapsed into sex addiction prior to his death by suicide. Police body camera footage from May 28 shows Brendan discussing the situation with deputies after discovering his father's body at their family business in Lake Park, Florida. Brendan stated that his mother had found out about Claude's relapse, which he believed triggered the events leading to his father's death. He clarified that while alcohol was not the main issue, Claude had struggled with sex addiction. Brendan noted that Claude had been sober for over a decade but had exhibited behavioral changes in the year leading up to his death, including increased anger. After a confrontation with his mother on May 27, Claude was asked to leave their home. Brendan later found him deceased at the family business. An incident report indicated that Claude left a note for his family, which contained heartfelt messages. Claude Lemieux had a notable NHL career, winning four Stanley Cups and the Conn Smythe Trophy. Brendan Lemieux, 30, is also a professional hockey player currently with HC Davos in Switzerland's National League.
