Authorities in Virginia have identified the remains of 56-year-old Helen Marie Pullen Banks through DNA analysis, linking her death to a second homicide involving four suspects already charged in the murder of 18-year-old Jayden McComber. Banks' remains were discovered on March 27, and DNA testing confirmed her identity on July 7. The suspects, Rashad Antonio Mayfield, Devonti Gregory Pettaway, Jaden Lamont Phillips, and Kennady Jade Lambert, face charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and use of a firearm in the commission of murder in connection with Banks' death.
Investigators believe the two homicides are connected, as McComber disappeared on the same day Banks' remains were found. His vehicle was located the following day, and subsequent investigations led to the recovery of evidence linking the suspects to both cases. The sheriff's office stated that both victims had prior connections to at least one of the suspects, but no evidence of conflict has been found. The investigation remains active, and authorities have confirmed they are not seeking additional suspects.
Banks is survived by her children, grandchildren, and extended family. McComber's family has also expressed their grief and remembrance of him during this difficult time.
