President Donald Trump attended a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Wednesday, honoring four U.S. service members who were recently killed in action in Jordan and Iraq. The service members honored were 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; Sgt. Angel Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York; Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas; and Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, from Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Trump described the service members as 'great heroes' and stated, 'We're going to honor them. And it’s one of the hardest things to do — for me, it's one of the hardest things to do as a president. But it has to be done.' He also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, saying, 'All I'm going to say is we love you. We love your child.'
Feehan’s parents announced plans to establish a scholarship in his name to support education for those who serve or aspire to serve. U.S. Central Command reported that the service members were killed while defending against Iranian attacks at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, and Swinton was killed while attempting to destroy a downed Iranian drone at an air base in Iraq. Both incidents are under investigation.
