NASCAR driver Alex Bowman announces retirement plans after 2027

NASCAR driver Alex Bowman, who competes in the Cup Series for Hendrick Motorsports, has confirmed that he will retire from full-time racing after the 2027 season. Bowman, 33, has signed a one-year extension with the team to continue driving the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro. In a statement, he expressed gratitude towards team owner Rick Hendrick, as well as partners at Ally and Chevrolet, for their support throughout his career. Bowman has faced several injuries in recent years, including concussion-like symptoms that sidelined him for five races in 2022, a broken vertebra from a sprint car crash that caused him to miss three races in 2023, and vertigo that kept him out of four races this season. He has achieved eight career wins, with four victories in the 2021 season. Currently, he ranks 29th in the standings for the current season, with an average finishing position of 21.765.
