Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery Merger Delayed Pending Legal Review

Paramount Skydance has agreed to delay its $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, with the merger not proceeding until a judge rules on the legality of the case brought by a dozen states. A stipulation filed in court indicates that the merger will not be completed and the companies will not integrate their operations until five days after the merits determination or by June 1, 2027, whichever comes first. The Writers Guild of America, which has also filed a lawsuit against the merger, has agreed to this delay. New York Attorney General Letitia James stated that halting the merger is a significant victory for their efforts to uphold the law and protect the film and television industries.
