Azzi Fudd wins WNBA 3-point contest as first rookie champion

Azzi Fudd won the WNBA 3-point contest during her first All-Star weekend, making her the first rookie in league history to achieve this title. Fudd scored 30 points in the first round, falling short of the maximum score by 10 points. In contrast, Bridget Carleton from the Portland Fire was eliminated with a score of 19. Fudd took 27 shots, missing six attempts in total. She expressed that she felt nervous during the contest but found the shooting process to be enjoyable and based on muscle memory. Fudd has made 53 three-pointers in her rookie season, averaging 2.2 shots from beyond the arc. Despite facing injuries in college, she was selected first overall in the WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings. Fudd noted that her rehabilitation shooting practice helped improve her shooting form. Additionally, the WNBA introduced a new event, the Shooting Stars competition, which was won by Team Washington.
