The August 2026 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments, which can be as much as $994, will be distributed to recipients on July 31, 2026. SSI payments are generally issued on the first day of each month; however, when the first day falls on a weekend or federal holiday, payments are sent on the last business day of the previous month. Since August 1 is a Saturday, beneficiaries will receive their payments the day before.
The SSI program provides financial support to individuals with limited income who are blind, aged 65 or older, or have other qualifying disabilities. The payment amounts vary based on several factors, including the number of individuals filing. Individual filers may receive up to $994, couples filing jointly can receive up to $1,491, and caregivers for SSI recipients may receive up to $498.
To qualify for SSI payments, recipients must be U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens, reside in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or the Northern Mariana Islands, and must not be absent from the U.S. for a full calendar month or 30 consecutive days.
