Suspect in Berlin Pride Attack Linked to Islamist Groups, Manhunt Underway

A suspect with alleged ties to Germany's Islamist scene is currently on the run following an incident near Berlin's Pride festival, where a van was driven into a crowd, resulting in one death and at least 29 injuries. German authorities have initiated a manhunt for Abdul Ballout, a German citizen of Lebanese descent, who is believed to be armed and dangerous. Ballout has a prior criminal record and was previously known to authorities for his radicalization. The attack occurred in Berlin's Tiergarten park around 10 p.m. on Saturday, where the suspect allegedly struck pedestrians with a van before attacking others with a machete. The victims included attendees of the Pride event, although the attack did not take place directly within the festival area. Following the incident, organizers halted the celebration and urged attendees to leave. Police have conducted searches in various locations but have not yet apprehended the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
