Kevin Baillie, a former executive at Netflix, has filed a lawsuit against the company, claiming he was terminated from his position in April due to disclosing his medically supervised ketamine treatment for depression during a workplace retreat. According to court documents reported by The New York Post, Baillie, who was the vice president and head of creative at Netflix's Eyeline Studios, stated that his termination was influenced by this disclosure. He earned approximately $1.1 million annually and alleges that Netflix denied him severance pay following his dismissal.
Baillie underwent ketamine therapy at a clinic in Santa Barbara in 2022 while dealing with clinical depression after his mother's death. He mentioned the treatment during a trust exercise at Netflix's Sendero Ranch, where employees were encouraged to share personal experiences. The lawsuit claims that an investigator misinterpreted his disclosure as potential recreational drug use.
The investigation also looked into allegations of Baillie's use of profanity and alcohol consumption. His performance review had previously addressed his language but did not prohibit swearing entirely. Baillie is seeking a jury trial, lost wages, and damages for emotional distress. As of the latest report, Netflix had not publicly responded to the allegations.
