New York Offers College Admission to Students Unenrolled from Howard University

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced on July 27, 2026, that residents of New York who were unenrolled from Howard University due to missed tuition payments can apply for admission to the City University of New York (CUNY) and the State University of New York (SUNY) for the fall 2026 semester. This decision follows the withdrawal of over 500 first-year students from Howard University. Affected students will receive expedited late admissions reviews at several SUNY campuses, including Buffalo, Albany, Buffalo State University, Binghamton, Oneonta, Stony Brook, and New Paltz, with additional schools evaluating their capacity for enrollment.
