eBay and former executives settle harassment case for $56 million

eBay and three former executives have agreed to a settlement totaling nearly $56 million related to a harassment campaign that targeted two journalists in 2019. The settlement follows a series of incidents that included the delivery of live cockroaches, a funeral wreath, a book about coping with loss, and a bloody pig mask to the home of Ina and David Steiner, who operate the news website EcommerceBytes. Additionally, the campaign involved harassing messages sent through email and Twitter, as well as an attempt to place a GPS tracking device on the victims' vehicle. Former eBay employees pleaded guilty to criminal charges stemming from these actions. Ina Steiner announced the settlement on EcommerceBytes, stating that it includes $55.7 million in compensation and commitments to charitable causes.
