Miller has been accused of various acts of violence against Moreno, including throwing hot water at her, holding a gun to her head, and fracturing their daughter's collarbone. Miller has denied these allegations.
Santos commented on the situation, referencing his own experiences and suggesting that Miller should address the allegations privately rather than at public expense. He also highlighted past conflicts between himself and Miller, including accusations of financial misconduct against Santos.
Miller is currently running for reelection and has not indicated any plans to resign. Expulsion from Congress requires a two-thirds vote from the chamber, making it a challenging process. Santos was expelled following federal charges and later received a pardon from President Donald Trump after serving three months in prison.
