California Grandmother Found Dead in Church Parking Lot; Son Charged with Murder

A 61-year-old woman, Theresa Jones, was found deceased in her vehicle in a church parking lot in Fullerton, California, after she failed to pick up her grandchild on July 7. Her son, Emmanuel Wesley, 23, has been charged with her murder. Prosecutors allege that Wesley shot Jones twice in the back while she was in the driver's seat of her car outside the Fullerton Police Department on July 4. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Wesley exiting the back seat of the car, moving his mother's body to the passenger seat, and driving away. Jones' family reported her missing after she did not respond to calls. Her body was discovered on July 11. Wesley has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail, facing a potential sentence of 50 years to life in prison if convicted.
