Chairman Chuck Grassley's spokesperson stated that efforts are ongoing to secure sufficient support for Blanche's nomination. The DOJ has reportedly sent a new response to Senators Cornyn and Tillis addressing their concerns, and a DOJ official mentioned that they look forward to further discussions. Earlier, Cornyn had planned to meet with Blanche but the meeting did not occur. Tillis has also raised concerns about the fund and is not fully committed to supporting Blanche's nomination. Cornyn is seeking clarification from the DOJ on the implications of the settlement's audit-immunity provision.
