Emily Moreno, the ex-wife of Ohio Congressman Max Miller, has filed for a restraining order against him, alleging abuse towards her and their 2-year-old daughter. The legal documents were submitted on Thursday in Cuyahoga County Court. Moreno, who is a GOP political operative, claims that Miller has been abusive and requested protection for both herself and their daughter. The New York Times first reported on the restraining order.
In response to the allegations, the Democratic Women’s Caucus has called for an ethics investigation into Miller, who is seeking re-election in November. They stated that the allegations of domestic violence and child abuse must be taken seriously.
The restraining order filing is part of an ongoing custody battle between Miller and Moreno. Recent court filings have revealed allegations of violent behavior by Miller, including a closed investigation after their daughter was treated in the emergency room for a broken collarbone. Moreno has expressed concerns about Miller's behavior around their daughter, stating that the child described Miller's home as 'scary.'
Miller has denied the allegations and previously claimed to have evidence that Moreno was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder. The congressman has a history of violent incidents, including previous reports of physical altercations and driving under the influence. Despite these allegations, former President Trump has continued to support Miller, attending his wedding in 2022.
