Senator Mark Kelly discusses impact of far-left policies on Democratic approval ratings

Senator Mark Kelly, a Democrat from Arizona, stated during an interview on "Next Question with Katie Couric" that far-left proposals, such as abolishing police and defunding the Pentagon, may contribute to low approval ratings for the Democratic Party. Kelly expressed concern that these positions are associated with the party as a whole, stating, "Those things don’t make sense." He noted that such views could potentially cost Democrats seats in upcoming elections. Kelly emphasized that he does not support the more progressive policies attributed to the party's left flank. Recent polling indicates that only 42% of registered voters view the Democratic Party favorably, with 58% viewing it unfavorably. A Quinnipiac University poll found that only 20% of registered voters approved of the job Democrats in Congress were doing. Kelly also mentioned that he is considering a presidential campaign in 2028, depending on family support and his perceived viability as a candidate. Despite the party's challenges, a recent Fox News poll showed Democrats leading Republicans by seven points among registered voters.
