Authorities Release Ransom Notes in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Case

Authorities in Pima County have released the full text of two ransom notes related to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing for nearly six months. The notes, which were made public on July 31, aim to assist in identifying the author through their writing style. The first note, sent to KOLD on February 2 and addressed to NBC 'Today' host Savannah Guthrie, demanded a ransom of $4 million, later increasing to $6 million, for the safe return of her mother. It included threats regarding her life if the payment was not made by February 9. The second note, sent on February 6 to the 'Guthrie Family,' claimed that Nancy Guthrie had died shortly after her abduction due to heart-related issues. Savannah Guthrie has expressed her belief in the authenticity of the notes. Investigators are seeking public assistance in recognizing the writing style and have also urged anyone with information related to the case to contact law enforcement. The FBI is offering a reward of over $1 million for information leading to her recovery.
