Trump Cancels Potential Attack on Iran Amid Negotiations

President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he has canceled a potential military strike on Iran, citing progress in negotiations between the two nations. Trump indicated that there had been discussions among U.S. officials regarding a possible attack on Iran's infrastructure to encourage compliance with U.S. terms in ceasefire negotiations. In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump stated, "I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL." He noted that Iran and other Middle Eastern countries requested the U.S. to refrain from attacking, as preliminary agreements had been reached. These agreements include the complete opening of the Hormuz Strait and addressing Iran's nuclear threats. Additionally, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed concerns over the potential strike plans during a conversation with Trump. Regional powers such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Pakistan have also urged the U.S. and Iran to de-escalate tensions. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that any hostile actions by the U.S. or Israel would be met with a decisive response from Iran's armed forces.
