Impeachment Resolution Filed Against Judge Blocking Trump Administration's TPS Order for Somalis

Rep. Andy Ogles, a Republican from Tennessee, has introduced an impeachment resolution against Judge Allison Burroughs of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. This follows Burroughs' decision to block the Trump administration from ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somalis. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that Burroughs issued a stay on the administration's action amid a lawsuit by African Communities Together, which claims the decision was racially discriminatory. Ogles' resolution accuses Burroughs of defying federal law and the Supreme Court, stating that her actions obstruct the will of the people. The stay was issued despite a Supreme Court ruling in June that limited lower courts' ability to block TPS decisions. Ogles argues that Burroughs is attempting to circumvent the Supreme Court's ruling by considering allegations of discrimination. Burroughs was appointed by former President Barack Obama in 2014.
