Representative Max Miller (R-OH) announced that he will not resign from the House of Representatives despite facing domestic violence allegations made by his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, who is the daughter of Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH). Miller stated, "For no second am I going to sit here and continue to be debased by false and baseless allegations, and be pushed out of a seat I have worked so hard to represent."
The allegations include claims that Miller scalded Moreno with hot water, held a gun to her head, and caused injuries to their daughter. Miller has denied these allegations. He mentioned that his fundraising numbers are strong and that he has support from Speaker Mike Johnson and others in the party.
As the reelection campaign progresses, Democrats are viewing the race as competitive, particularly with candidate Brian Poindexter. In response to the allegations and scrutiny, Miller has requested a House Ethics Committee investigation into himself to address the claims against him. He stated, "I have absolutely nothing to hide."
