YouTube requires content creators to inform viewers when they use AI to significantly alter or generate photorealistic content. The policy has some inconsistencies; for example, it mandates disclosure for AI-generated music but not for content like 'riding a unicorn through a fantastical world,' which could be photorealistic. YouTube summarizes that realistic AI content and meaningful changes require disclosure, while non-realistic or minor edits do not. However, AI uses that do not require disclosure can include tasks such as idea generation and production assistance, allowing creators to use generative AI tools for video outlines, scripts, thumbnails, titles, or infographics. Additionally, creators can clone their own voices for voiceovers and utilize AI-generated animations in fully animated videos.
