<p>An Amtrak work train fire occurred near New York's Penn Station on Friday morning, resulting in injuries to five individuals.</p><p>The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) received a call at approximately 1:32 a.m. regarding the fire on track 11 at Penn Station, located on 31st Street between 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue.</p><p>The fire escalated to a second alarm by 2:43 a.m., prompting a response from 46 units and 141 fire and EMS personnel, as confirmed by the FDNY.</p><p>Among the injured, two individuals were seriously hurt and transported to Bellevue Hospital, while three others declined medical attention, according to the fire department.</p><p>The fire was brought under control by 4:05 a.m., and the cause is currently under investigation.</p><p>According to reports, the fire damaged overhead wiring along track 11, leading New Jersey Transit and the Long Island Railroad to suspend service into Manhattan.</p><p>NJ Transit stated that the fire has significantly impacted rail service, with disruptions expected to continue through the morning rush hour. Service is suspended between Newark Penn Station and Penn Station New York, and cross-honoring is in effect with PATH at Newark Penn, Hoboken, and 33rd St in New York, as well as with NJ Transit and private carrier buses.</p><p>Amtrak is working to make necessary repairs and restore service as soon as possible.</p>
