A group of teenage burglars has been arrested following an investigation into a series of break-ins across the Bay Area, involving nearly 80 homes and vehicles. The investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in a crime spree that included the theft of firearms and power tools, with an estimated $250,000 in stolen property.
Concord police released surveillance footage showing the suspects breaking into parked vehicles and using stolen garage door openers to access garages. In one incident, the suspects allegedly pointed a firearm at a door, waiting for a homeowner to emerge, and in another, they stole 14 firearms from a garage.
Detectives linked the suspects to 37 burglaries in Concord and about 40 more in Contra Costa and Solano counties. The group also stole vehicles to commit additional crimes. During the investigation, officers attempted to stop a suspect vehicle in May, but the driver fled, leading to a pursuit that was called off for safety reasons. In June, another suspect vehicle was located, but the suspects escaped again.
The investigation progressed in late June when detectives identified four juveniles as suspects. One was already in juvenile hall for an unrelated case. Arrest and search warrants were obtained for the others, and in July, the Concord Police Department SWAT Team, with assistance from other law enforcement agencies, arrested the three remaining suspects.
During searches of their homes, police recovered two stolen firearms and identified Wuillian Cordova-Cubias, 37, of Oakland, as the alleged buyer of stolen property from the juveniles. On August 5, a search at Cordova-Cubias' home uncovered around 500 suspected stolen power tools, a stolen ATV, and other valuable items, totaling approximately $250,000.
Cordova-Cubias has been charged with receiving stolen property, receiving stolen motor vehicles, unlawful firearm activity, and conspiracy. He remains in custody and is scheduled for arraignment. The identities of the juvenile suspects have not been released due to California law.
