Mike Lindell, founder of MyPillow and a prominent supporter of former President Donald Trump, is contesting the results of his gubernatorial race in Minnesota. As of Wednesday morning, projections indicated that Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth was leading Lindell by approximately 11 percentage points, with 99% of votes counted, according to The Associated Press. Demuth accepted her nomination on Tuesday.
Lindell expressed skepticism about the projections, suggesting there were "mathematical deviations" in the results and stated he would not recognize calls made by the AP. He remarked, "What is the AP to voters? Why would I listen to the AP?" He emphasized his commitment to the race until all votes were counted, despite the AP's projections being displayed on his television network's website.
Demuth is set to face Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar in the November general election. Lindell's comments reflect his ongoing focus on election integrity, a topic he has been vocal about since the 2020 presidential election. His past claims of voter fraud have led to lawsuits and social media bans. Recently, he settled a defamation suit with Dominion Voting Systems and faced scrutiny regarding his residency status for the gubernatorial race.
Lindell stepped down from his position at MyPillow earlier this month to concentrate on his campaign.
