Texas Judge Faces Federal Lawsuit and Removal Efforts Following Allegations of Doxxing

Midland County Judge Terry Johnson is facing a federal civil rights lawsuit and an effort by the district attorney to remove him from office. The lawsuit, filed by Christino Rodriquez, alleges that Johnson posted Rodriquez's personal information, including his Social Security number and driver's license number, on Facebook after Rodriquez criticized local government. The lawsuit claims this action was retaliatory and constitutes doxxing. Rodriquez's attorney, James Trainor, stated that the case raises concerns about the ability of citizens to criticize government officials without fear of retaliation. The district attorney, Glenn Harwood, filed a petition on August 6 seeking Johnson's removal, which is the first step in the process under Texas law. Additionally, Midland ISD Trustee Brandon Hodges has moved to intervene in the removal case to ensure it proceeds without procedural issues. Johnson lost his reelection bid in March and is expected to remain in office until early 2027 unless removed sooner.
