Florida Father Shot and Killed While Intervening in Altercation

Daryl Hill, a 56-year-old father, was shot and killed on Tuesday morning after attempting to intervene in a fight between a man and a woman near Wolf Lake Elementary School in Apopka, Florida. Hill had just dropped off his daughter for her first day of school. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses reported seeing a man and a woman fighting inside a vehicle before it crashed and the altercation continued outside. Hill, described by his son as having a big heart, tried to help the woman when he was shot by 26-year-old Raul Lionel Vazquez. Hill was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries. Vazquez has been charged with second-degree murder and was out on bond for a previous aggravated assault charge at the time of the incident. A judge has since revoked his bond and ordered him held without bond for both charges.
