Isabelle Johnson, 38, was arrested on Thursday following a 45-day manhunt across Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office. Johnson was wanted for the murder of Jason Coulthart, whose body was discovered in a shallow grave in Florida on June 25. U.S. Marshals apprehended Johnson at a residence in Cottondale, approximately one hour west of Tallahassee, without incident. She has been booked into the Jackson County Jail and is expected to be extradited to Walton County, where she may face additional charges.
The arrest was facilitated by information gathered by the Walton County Sheriff's Office Cyber Crimes Unit regarding Johnson's location. Jackson County Sheriff Donald Edenfield confirmed that deputies responded to the information received. Walton County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Dustin Cosson acknowledged the collaboration among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies that contributed to the arrest. He noted that the investigation involved over 40 subpoenas and more than 20 search warrants.
Coulthart was reported missing on May 24 after last being seen at the College Condominiums in Niceville. During the investigation, authorities located his body buried in a shallow grave. Five other individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, charged with accessory to a capital felony after the fact.
