Houston police shoot suspect after he fires on vehicles, injuring two

A gunman opened fire on passing vehicles in Houston, injuring three individuals, including a mother and her daughter. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. when police responded to reports of gunfire along Wayside Drive. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man armed with a gun. After issuing commands for him to drop the weapon, officers from the Houston Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety discharged their firearms at the suspect. The gunman was shot multiple times and transported to a hospital, while no officers were reported injured. A witness described the suspect as shooting indiscriminately at cars, regardless of who was inside. The mother and daughter were among those struck by gunfire, and a third individual in a separate vehicle was also injured. An occupant of a third vehicle escaped without injury. The suspect's identity and motive remain undisclosed, and the incident is under investigation by the Houston Police Department and Texas Rangers.
