Christiane Amanpour said Monday that she will leave CNN at the end of June, concluding more than 43 years at the network. CNN CEO Mark Thompson told staff in a memo that Amanpour had decided it was time to begin a new chapter.
Thompson said Amanpour will reduce her CNN International program, “Amanpour,” to once a week early in 2027. The program is scheduled to end in May, before her departure the following month. Her announcement comes as CNN enters a new period under Skydance following its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, CNN’s parent company. PBS described the transaction as an $81 billion merger that brings CNN and CBS together.
