Six people who use White House press coverage for their work sued President Donald Trump over restrictions on CNN, Politico and MS Now, reports said. The plaintiffs argue the limits on media access deprive them of information they need.
The citizens joined the three outlets in bringing a First Amendment case against the administration, according to the Washington Examiner. Their lawsuit says the restrictions violate the public’s right to independent reporting and seeks protections for White House journalists against retaliation. Al Jazeera reported that the plaintiffs said they had lost access to information previously provided by outlets covering Trump.
The case adds news consumers as plaintiffs to the legal dispute between Trump and media organizations whose reporting he dislikes, PBS NewsHour reported.
