Dartmouth College President Sian Leah Beilock is launching a review into whether Provost Santiago Schnell used artificial intelligence too extensively in his writing, The Atlantic reported. The review follows a Sept. 21 report by the student newspaper The Dartmouth concerning Schnell’s published work.

The Dartmouth reported that Schnell appeared to rely heavily on AI in each of the nine articles he published this year. Those articles included a Washington Post opinion piece addressing students’ use of AI for writing. The Atlantic noted that Beilock had recently written an essay advocating greater use of AI at Dartmouth. Dartmouth is the university where the term artificial intelligence was coined, according to The Atlantic.
