A Gallup poll released Tuesday found Democrats ahead of Republicans on favorability and economic issues as candidates make final appeals before the November midterm elections.

The Hill reported that 43 percent of respondents viewed the Democratic Party more favorably, compared with 35 percent for the GOP. The Washington Post said Democrats had gained the confidence of independents on which party could ensure economic prosperity, marking Democrats’ largest advantage on that question since 2012.

The reports did not provide a percentage for the economic measure. The findings come as both parties campaign in the final weeks before the midterms.
