Hundreds of civilians were evacuated from the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Oleshky on Friday under a localized ceasefire that reports said was brokered by Melania Trump. The evacuation involved residents who had been trapped in the front-line city in Ukraine's southern Kherson region.

An aid convoy of 25 buses brought humanitarian assistance and transported residents leaving Oleshky, Deutsche Welle reported. The city has been under Russian occupation since 2022, according to the report, and faces food shortages. The Washington Examiner said artillery and drone threats, as well as mines, had made evacuations difficult.
