The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Thursday proposed policies intended to speed approvals for expansions of U.S. liquefied natural gas export facilities.
The proposals include a blanket authorization program for LNG infrastructure, according to the Washington Examiner. The Hill reported that FERC would limit notice and protest procedures as part of a program to accelerate approvals. The Examiner also said the agency proposed removing certain environmental requirements for new projects.
The Washington Examiner said the policies would support President Donald Trump’s agenda of developing more natural gas projects and increasing LNG exports abroad. The reports described the actions as proposals.
