United Arab Emirates authorities said the Flydubai co-pilot who attacked his captain last month planned to take control of a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv and crash it into Ben Gurion Airport.

Authorities identified the suspect as Hamam al-Hammami, a 29-year-old Omani national. The Hill reported the aircraft had 182 passengers. Emirati investigators said he intended to strike a passenger terminal, while Attorney General Hamad Saif al Shamsi said the plan was intended to cause the “greatest possible number of human casualties.”

The Washington Examiner reported that the other pilot and several passengers stopped the attack on the Sept. 30 flight. Emirati authorities said the intended target was Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
