Two former FBI intelligence officials, Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides, were charged Friday over statements concerning their roles in examining the origins of Hunter Biden’s laptop before the 2020 presidential election. The two surrendered and appeared in federal court in Washington, D.C., according to the Guardian.

PBS reported that both had specialized in foreign election interference. Fox News, citing the Justice Department, said the officials falsely denied to Congress that they had been involved in FBI investigations concerning Joe Biden’s son, including the laptop matter. Fox identified Floris as Nikki Cole Floris. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said the charges concerned lying to Congress. Floris’s legal team objected to the case, the Guardian reported.
