An off-duty ICE agent was shot early Friday in Fresno, California, after police said he assaulted a woman and her 72-year-old father at their home; the agent was arrested on felony assault charges.
Fresno police identified the agent as 32-year-old David Gonzalez of Texas. Authorities said Gonzalez was alone and off duty, though they had not determined why he was in the area. The woman found him sleeping on her lawn, and police said he appeared intoxicated and agitated. Her father shot Gonzalez after the alleged assault, according to police.
Gonzalez was receiving medical care for a gunshot wound to his midsection, the Fresno Police Department said. Police were investigating the incident.
