New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and other New York Democratic leaders on Friday asked private parking-lot and garage owners not to allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers to use their properties for operations.

The request came in a letter seeking to stop ICE from using private lots as staging areas, according to the Washington Examiner. It followed the shooting of a 28-year-old Dominican immigrant by an ICE officer in Manhattan’s Marble Hill neighborhood more than a week earlier, the outlet reported. The Examiner said a privately owned lot near the shooting site had been used by ICE. Axios reported that the October shooting had also led Mamdani and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries to work together.
