Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, called Friday for the Trump administration to finalize a proposed rule that would limit sales of kratom, a plant with opioid-like properties sold over the counter. Grassley said the administration should issue its final rule concerning 7OH immediately.
In a social media post, Grassley wrote, “All Kratom is deadly it should NOT be sold at gas stations/vape stores/ANYWHERE Admin needs 2 put out final 7OH rule NOW.” The report described the proposed measure as one limiting the sale of kratom, including products available at gas stations and vape stores. Grassley’s statement urged the administration to complete the rulemaking process rather than leave the proposal pending.
