Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico's campaign canceled an Oct. 5 event with the Central Texas African American Civic Engagement Symposium while he was absent from the campaign trail because of illness, Fox News Digital reported. The group said 325 people had registered for the event.
In an email obtained by Fox News Digital, the symposium said the cancellation caused irrecoverable financial loss and that the campaign had not worked to reschedule. It said it understood Talarico's health needed priority but was disappointed by the cancellation. The Washington Examiner reported Thursday that supporters at a San Marcos rally said Talarico had the flu; its report described his absence as more than a week, while Fox News said it lasted two weeks. PBS NewsHour reported that Republican leadership and Elon Musk faced Talarico with more than $158 million in outside spending.
