Katie Zacharia is scheduled to hold her first White House briefing Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., beginning her tenure as President Donald Trump’s press secretary and succeeding Karoline Leavitt after a change in the communications team.
Trump announced Sunday on Truth Social that Zacharia would begin as press secretary on Columbus Day and hold an introductory news conference Tuesday. He said she had supported him "from the very beginning." Fox News described Zacharia as an attorney and television commentator; NPR reported that she had worked for one of Trump’s companies and appeared on conservative talk shows. The Washington Examiner reported that Zacharia said she intends to remain press secretary through the end of Trump’s term, which it said is more than two years away.
