McKinsey & Co. plans to use an AI simulation of real-world problems in its hiring process, according to a company partner who spoke to The Wall Street Journal, as reported by the New York Post.

Saleem Zafar, a partner in McKinsey’s Dallas office who helped develop the chatbot tool, said candidates could be asked to advise an AI-generated mayor whose city is considering construction of an expensive new arena. He said the simulated mayor would have priorities and would seek candidates’ recommendations. The tool is intended to test applicants’ responses to problems faced by cities and companies, the report said.
