Meghan Markle said she was “deeply distressed” by allegations involving her father, Thomas Markle Sr., according to The Hill, after reports said he was accused of possessing child sexual abuse material in the Philippines.
Fox News reported that Meghan said she had kept her children, Archie and Lilibet, away from Thomas Markle Sr. to protect them amid the allegations. It said her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., alleged that he found the material at Thomas Markle Sr.'s home in Cebu and reported it to police and the FBI.
Accounts differed on the status of any investigation. The Hill described Thomas Markle Sr. as being investigated, while the Daily Mail reported that London’s Metropolitan Police had not opened a child-sex investigation into him and was examining whether Meghan had received a letter about the allegations years earlier.
