Former Chicago Bears coach and Hall of Fame tight end Mike Ditka died Friday at age 86, his family announced. The Bears confirmed his death in a statement recognizing his long association with the organization, according to Breitbart.
President Donald Trump said he learned of Ditka’s death during an exchange with reporters and described him as a longtime supporter. Trump said Ditka was “a winner” and “a tough cookie.” Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell also learned of the death when asked about it during a news conference, Fox News reported. Campbell then recounted an experience involving Ditka before the 1999 NFL Draft.
