Sen. Chris Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat, met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday during a Middle East trip and said the two countries had issues to address together, including ending the war with Iran and pursuing a path to a Palestinian state.

Murphy said in a post on X that he had disagreements with the Saudi leader's policies but that the meeting was important. He arrived in the region Saturday for meetings in Qatar. In Doha, Murphy met with Sheikha Hind Al Thani, vice chairperson of the Qatar Foundation, according to the Daily Wire. He also praised the presence of American universities in Qatar's Education City. Before the trip, Murphy said it would focus on the war and on considering the U.S. approach to Gulf partners.
