The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments Tuesday in St. Mary Catholic Parish v. Roy, a challenge to Colorado’s universal preschool program involving Catholic preschools. The case centers on Colorado’s decision to exclude Catholic preschools from the program, according to the Washington Examiner.
Erika Nagle, a Colorado mother whose children attend St. Mary Catholic School in Littleton, said two of her children were denied preschool funding. The New York Post and Fox News reported that she said the denial amounted to $12,000 in aid. Nagle told Fox News that her family was excluded because it is Catholic. The court’s consideration of the case is expected to address the dispute over access to the state program.
