A 15-year-old girl, Yuleidy Ixcotoyac, regained consciousness in a coffin during her funeral in Guatemala after her family believed she had died, according to multiple reports. The incident followed her collapse while her father was driving her to a medical center early Saturday.

Her father, Abraham Ixcotoyac, said he stopped the vehicle after she passed out and could not detect a pulse or breathing. Reports described him as an evangelical pastor. He returned home rather than continuing to the medical center, and the family proceeded with funeral arrangements. The reports said no doctor had confirmed her death or issued a death certificate before the funeral.
