The Pentagon on Friday updated its public casualty database to report 21 U.S. service members killed and 865 wounded during operations related to the Iran war. The revised death toll rose from 18, while the number wounded increased by 98 since August, according to the New York Times.

The Hill reported that two newly listed noncombat deaths were Maj. Sorffly Davius and an unidentified Navy sailor, citing a U.S. official familiar with the matter. The New York Times reported that the Defense Department is now including troops who died or were injured in support roles. The changes appeared in the Defense Casualty Analysis System, which provides casualty breakdowns by service branch, rank, race and ethnicity.
