U.S. Central Command said Saturday that a U.S. fighter jet disabled a commercial cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman after it tried to bypass a U.S. naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM said the vessel ignored repeated warnings before the strike, which it said hit the ship’s stern. Al Jazeera also reported that CENTCOM described the ship as attempting to run the blockade. The reports did not provide further details on the vessel or its condition.
