The U.S. military said it killed five people in a strike on a suspected drug-trafficking vessel in the eastern Pacific on October 27. U.S. Southern Command said Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere carried out the operation against a go-fast vessel on established trafficking routes.

SOUTHCOM said intelligence indicated the vessel was actively involved in drug trafficking and described those killed as “narco-terrorists.” The Guardian reported the strike was one of more than 70 such attacks since the start of Donald Trump’s second presidency, with more than 240 deaths in total. Al Jazeera put the campaign’s death toll at 243 since September 2025.
